Dear Weston, happy half birthday Buddy! You are six months old today! Can you believe you're half way through your first year? You are so much fun these days, you roll-y, giggly, cute-as-can-be, play baby. Just give you a washcloth or burpcloth to wave around and play peak-a-boo with or Mama's or Daddy's cup of water (full of ice is the most awesome) and you will be one entertained and happy baby. You do have a basket full of actual toys though, and your current most favorite is probably what we fondly call the "noise-maker"...it doesn't appear to be getting old any time soon.
But you also love when we read to you, Sugar Pie. Or maybe it would be more correct to say you love licking your books while we try to read them to you before you grab them from our hands. You love Bubbles Bubbles and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
You are eating rice, barley and oatmeal cereals along with all kinds of fruits and veggies. We have yet to come across a food that displeases you. The most reaction I can get out of you is when I try to give you sips of water. By your reaction you'd think I filled your bottle with unsweetened coffee, but you are always willing to give it a second, third and fourth taste test.
You can babble with the best of them, Bubs. You love "Ba Ba Ba" so much I think you might bust into a chorus of "Barbra Ann." You are quite the story teller and for almost a full week this month you'd wake up in the middle of the night just for a chat with (I'd guess) that bunny on your bumper in your crib. After 20 minutes, 30 minutes or 40 minutes of babbling and swapping tales, back to sleep you'd go.
How are you sleeping these days? Better, much better than at four months. You're in bed by 7:30 or 8:00 and don't call for us until 5 am or so then you usually are back to sleep until 7 am. And better yet, this last week you've been going the whole night through without waking to eat or chat at all. Even daytime sleep seems to be changing as you surprise me every now and then with naps longer than 40 minutes! You're sleeping more during the day now than you were at two months, Silly Billy.
Days with you are so wonderful. I love squeezing and hugging you and kissing your cheeks and there's nothing better than making you laugh. I might have to say your dad seems to have a slight edge over me at that. You two always fill our evenings with giggles. He carries you around on his shoulder and you prop your arm on his head as if you were cruising down the street. Too cute kid, too cute.
Happy Six Months Wes! love, Mama and Daddy
