Meadows of Strawberry Jam

To the strawberry fields we went on a Saturday morning a couple weeks ago.  We drove a handful of miles out of town and found ourselves in the middle of this.

Wes quickly became a pro at picking (squeezing, squishing) the berries.

Then I let him have one.  Game over.  From that point on, none of the berries he picked landed in the bucket...they landed in his mouth.

We left with a ginormous amount of strawberries and managed to gobble them up in a few days.

Then a week later we went back out for seconds and a strawberry jam adventure.  Wes helped mash some of the strawberries.

And he might have sampled a few as well.

This was my second attempt at jam making.  Once done several years ago, well before Wes.  My conclusion: jam making with a toddler in the kitchen might not happen again ;-)
