Summer Vacation 2013: Around the bay

We woke up to a glorious, sunny day on Traverse Bay, although we were sleepy after all our late nights.  Since Weston hadn't had much intention of going to sleep unless mom and dad were also sleeping, we've been watching movies in the evenings to try to settle us all down.  So far he really liked Cars, which we rented from a hotel DVD library.  He keeps asking for 'orange car' even though I believe the main character car is actually red?
Anyway, we stopped for breakfast then stopped at a great little grocery store for some food to bring back to the condo.  Next we made our way down to the beach.

The water was nice and shallow for a long ways out which was absolutely perfect for Weston.  He had a blast 'swimming' in the water, laughing and giggling and splashing around.  We played in the sand very briefly but built our first sandcastle with a bag of sand toys that my grandma (Hi Grandma!) got Wes for his birthday.
As the kitchen was newly stocked from the grocery store, we had a nice lunch without having to travel from the condo.  Then I actually convinced the little buddy to take a nap!  He felt so much better after, I was so happy for him.  I was happy for his parents too.  They sat on the balcony in silence, enjoying the water and sunshine :)
After the quiet afternoon, we stopped for this delicious frozen treat in black cherry, mint chocolate chip and fudgy chocolate,

This stop was Jeremy's find.  Good job, honey!
The area has a nice system of walking/biking/hiking trails and we decided to stroll around one before dinner.  Here's a few pictures.

We had dinner downtown then made our way back to the hotel for a successful early bedtime.  Tomorrow, a lighthouse!
