After waking a bit later than planned (we take the hours of sleep when we can get them) we had breakfast at the hotel. At this particular hotel they send individual continental breakfasts in baskets to each room...it was not only convenient but cute too and tasty to boot. Loading up our arsenal of luggage also ticked away the time and before we knew it, we figured we might as well eat an early lunch before hitting the road. So we stopped at a diner down the road and finally continued our travels north.
Before getting too far, we stopped at Warren State Park to visit the beach and see the dunes. Now, I didn't quite have a picture in my mind as what these dunes would look like, but I certainly didn't imagine this mountain.
Holy moly! The picture doesn't do it justice. I didn't plan on us climbing this sort of thing, but it was just too awesome of a wonder not to try (sorry Mom). We made it about two thirds of the way before calling it quits...it was hard work! Here's the view-
The descent was pretty fun and the walk across the hot parking lot, not so fun, but we made to the shore.
It takes a few minutes for Wes to get warmed up to the beach scene despite all his talk, but it wasn't long before he was soaking wet and full of smiles.
(just ignore the sunbathing stud in the background)
Beautiful beach. After that, we continued north to our final destination. We arrived just in time for dinner and to catch glimpse of the sun setting over the bay.
Tomorrow, 'to our next adventure' as our Buddy likes to say.
